How to sync G+ status with FB ( Facebook ) ?

So are you on Google+ yet ? If you are already there and lucky enough to get invitation from Google or any of your friend, you might want to sync your g+ status with facebook, because some of you still don’t want to loose facebook also :)

Although, till todate, Google has not come up with any of the G+ API (they will come soon), but still there is way to sync the Google Plus status with facebook or even twitter ? :)

Yes, all you have to do :

Step 1: Go to http://facebook.com/mobile and get your personalized email address which can be used to post pic and post statuses on the facebook. (This is something which is private for you)

Step 2: Go to https://plus.google.com/ and go to the section where you can invite your friends to your G+ profile. This section can be seen usually on top right corner of G+ main page.

Step 3: Click on “Add a New Person” and write your personalized  facebook email address which you got in Step 1.

Step 4: Drag this address to the circle below to create a new circle, since this email address cannot be seen publicly, so you need to create a new circle which should be hidden by others. You can do all privacy settings about circles, by going into the Privacy options in Google+.

Step 5: You are all set, now whenever you are updating your status at Google+, include your hidden circle that contins the facebook email and check the box which says ‘Also emil xxx people’ . Since your facebook email is not using Google+ so your status will be sent to facebook via this email.

Cool ? … yes … till you get any plugin or any other tweaks by developers, I think this is enough for you.

You can do the same steps for other social network also. For example: http://ping.fm offers you to update status on several networks via one personalized email address. You can use ping.fm for your G+ – Twitter sync as well.

Make sure you care about ‘Privacy’.

  • Richard says:

It works, but what gets posted to Facebook is truncated with “…” at the end.

  • Jose says:

doesn’t seem to work from the android app :(

    • admin says:

i haven’t checked if there is an option to send status to your non g+ friends. If there is none, I guess you won’t be able to do so :)

    • admin says:

Jose, it only updates what you write on your links, photos or or anything. It only takes the words you write and email to your non G+ friends and hence updates the facebook.

  • lhea says:

It is great but, statuses with photos don’t show up.

  • Jim Edwards says:

Few things I’ve noticed… it doesn’t work on the android app since, the app doesn’t ask about “emailing” non G+ users… Also, it seems to truncate the field.

  • Sam says:

works, but the FB status is shortened and there’s a … at the end

how do i get the entire message to appear?

    • admin says:

i think the google+ email template is doing this thing :) let’s c if we will have better option in few days ?

  • Raf says:

    This works :D :D :D
    You deserve a *cookie* :D
Another incentive to get friends to join Google +

  • Cary Bass says:

I have not yet seen G+ as an option in my ping.fm posting list.

    • admin says:

Ping.fm has not yet offered the G+ because Google has not released any API info for G+, we’ll have to wait.

  • William Seligman says:

I tested this. For me, only the first nine words of the Google+ status update are copied to Facebook, followed by an ellipsis (…).

    • admin says:

Due to the email template of Google+, only limited number of characters go to facebook status, would be fine for shorter ones , bear with us till any developer comeup with any idea …

    • William Seligman says:

I figured out why this doesn’t work.

The status that Facebook uses comes from the subject of the e-mail message it receives. Google+ won’t include more than nine words in the subject of the e-mail it sends from your Google+ update.

Unfortunately, this makes sense. Otherwise you could send e-mails with interminably-long subjects from Google+. Spammers could easily take advantage of this.

So we have to wait until there’s some app to do the status transfer. Oh, well.

  • Ankush says:

Here are few more ways to update FB from G+ it does not exactly sync it but you can post to FB seperately… plus u can view your FB news feed in google+ :)

    • admin says:

ya that is another option where you can connect ur fb account and can view fb feeds, but yes again it is also an option for pre sdk era :) thanks for ur share Ankush!

  • Xavier Gunz says:

What if I update my twitter which is linked to my FB? will that update my G+?

  • Joey says:

I must be doing something wrong. I have added my mobile email address, I have assigned my proper name to the contact, I have put it in a separate circle and I have turned on my FB account to accept incoming email. I am wondering if there is an issue receiving SMS and email?

    • admin says:

seems fine Joey … the best thing to test is to put ur any other dummy email account and check if you were able to receive email from G+ updates ?

  • Clovia says:

I do not want to update facebook or ping fm with google plus… I’d like to update google plus with ping fm posts…how do you do that?

  • Girish says:

    wow!
but i am looking for FB to Google+, any ideas?

  • Girish says:

or a autosharing from my blog to G+, FB, Twitter, can help me out?

  • April S. says:

What if I wanted the complete opposite… I want to log into facebook and have all my status updates stream to my google+

Is there an app for that?

  • Tom says:

Is there a way to post a link to facebook from email? or does it just work for statuses? because that would be kinda lame..
